NOAMA HOURFANE
When my sister and I first registered in English Highway, I was a little bit hesitant as I pictured the center to be a second school with tons of homework and classic teachers, but it was more than that.
In fact, it was a very friendly teenager’s environment where I immediately felt at home. The whole staff was very welcoming, professional, and we could sense a real will to always upgrade the teaching methods and tools. It was a place where no question was labeled stupid, which gave room for creativity and interesting debates. The content was stimulating and tackled a large variety of topics. Teachers were very skilled, friendly and always made sure everyone understood everything.
The clubs helped us boost our cultural knowledge. The movie club for example, helped me discover many cult movies depicting important events and great actors. The post-movie discussions helped me develop my argumentation and communication skills. There was also a big annual knowledge contest, where all classes compete with each other in a very ludic and pleasant way. Almost every year, we had the chance to spend some time with American exchange students from different universities, it was a real opportunity for us to practice our English and know more about the American culture
English Highway helped me get good grades in school. I can proudly say that I received a full grade (20/20) in English for my Baccalauréat degree.
I left English highway with a great mastery of and love for the English language and culture, which definitely inspired my choice of major. I am currently studying applied foreign languages at the university of Jules Verne, (Amiens, France). I have recently been selected to spend a year abroad as an exchange student at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow/Scotland).
ZINEB MRINI ALAOUI
I was 13 when I first joined English highway. Speaking English in public was impossible and scary for me since I was constantly worried about making embarrassing mistakes.
Thanks to the ludic pedagogy and highly qualified teachers in English Highway, I managed to overcome my fears. The round table discussions we were having every Saturday at English Highway were of great help, as they helped me build my self-confidence to speak English publicly.
In 2017, I had an enriching experience in the Race2Space competition. I had to come up with a video explaining a scientific topic in English. I felt that I had the required skills to search, write and give the speech. One thing led to another and I successfully reached the finals. English Highway’s teachers had the kindness to help me prepare my final interview that took place in the US embassy.
During my senior year, I reached the advanced classes and started preparing for the TOEFL. I ended up taking the IELTS and successfully reached band 7. Consequently, the baccalaureate exam was a piece of cake.
I am currently enrolled in a double degree program at a French University. Being familiar with English is making my university life much easier. It gives me access to a wide content that is not always translated into French or Arabic.
SANAE ZIADI
I am currently a freshman in a Lebanese American University majoring in Political Science and International Affairs. Not so long ago, I was a student in English Highway.
When I first enrolled at English Highway, I could barely put two words together, and English used to sound like gibberish to me. As far as I can remember, staff and faculty did all they could to support and encourage me during this period. Thanks to their assistance, I built a strong fluency in English over the years. Not only did I benefit from the language learning sessions, but I also received fruitful orientation assistance from the director, Mr. Filali, with whom I had an insightful exchange on my undergraduate education plans. If it were not for English Highway, I wouldn’t have scored high on the TOEFL iBT. This test was crucial for me to get selected for the MEPI Tomorrow’s Leaders scholarship program, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State, as an undergraduate student in the Lebanese American University in Beirut. Knowing English definitely opened doors for me to a brighter academic and professional career. So, I thank English Highway for helping me achieve my dream.
CHOROK BEJJA
I am a sophomore biomedical engineering student at the University of Moulay Ismail, Meknes. I can easily feel the positive impact English Highway had on me. Every little activity we did in classes had a meaningful role and made my language level and other skills better. For instance, participating in different clubs helped me develop the courage to speak my mind.
Studying English at English Highway was of great benefit to me. This was reflected on the high TOEFL score I received (100/120).
I had an unforgettable enriching experience at the center. It can also be that way for everyone, but I advise taking advantage of everything the center offers, from clubs to those activities held in classes.
OUMAYMA AYADI
My name is Oumayma Ayadi, and I am an engineering student at ENSAM.
My experience at ENGLISH HIGHWAY was truly epic since my English level has improved more significantly than expected. ENGLISH HIGHWAY has an incomparable atmosphere. Unlike other English language centers, this one encourages students to learn and study while having fun. It has hardworking teachers and advanced learning equipment. Not to forget its huge library and various clubs, such as: kids club, conversation club, movie club, writing club, fun club, etc.
I took summer intensive classes, and they were cool and interesting. Additionally, TOEFL preparation classes were amazing. One of the most important things I learned at English Highway is self-confidence. Now I can express myself so easily without being shy.
I had an incredible grade in the national English Baccalaureat exam and an amazing score in TOEFL.
I shall always be grateful for being member of English Highway family.
MAJDA MECHTI
I am currently a bachelor student at EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne) where I am studying mathematics. I took English classes at English Highway for approximately seven years. My experience at the center was very rewarding. It has benefited me in various ways and in multiple situations. For instance, when I participated in the Model United Nations, I was able to speak and write in a comfortable and sufficiently elaborate way. I was also able to obtain grade A at the Cambridge English exam which is equivalent to a level C1 (advanced) and successfully passed my baccalaureate English exam with 19/20. Classes at English Highway deepened my knowledge and gave me the chance to practice my speaking. Teaching methods were much enjoyable and interactive.
OUMNIA CHELLAH
“English Highway provided me with an environment where I could work on and practice my English, which continues to help me today, as I pursue my Bachelor’s at Stanford University. I was also able to receive advice and assistance while I was applying to universities in the United States. I prepared for the TOEFL in real testing conditions and achieved a high score (117/120).
